The Pinewood Scholars Series II: Museums and Education, the Art of Sharing
06 June 2017 09:48
Our second Pinewood Scholars Series was a definite success. Four dynamic speakers, all distinguished members of our wider community joined forces and through their presentations incited the members of our conference to think how important “Museums and Education” are for our own lives, the lives of our students and the world around us.
Our Conference Speakers, Dr. Polyxeni Adam Veleni, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, Dr. Aggeliki Kottaridi, Director of the 17th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, Mr. Zisis Skambalis, Head of Directorate, Folklife and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia Thrace and Dr. Eurydice Georganteli, Lecturer on History of Art and Architecture and Medieval Studies, Harvard University, illuminated us on what is the course of actions their respective museums are taking in order to best serve their young visitors.
On our part, Dr Roxanne Giampapa, Pinewood’s Director, pledged her commitment to see the Scholars Series get better by the year. As a member of the Scholars Series Committee and Pinewood’s Host Country Studies Teacher, I also pledge to enrich our student program, on knowledge acquired by our speakers’ presentations.
