Science Day 2016

Post

Attention Pinewood Community: The Science Department would like to invite you to our 2016 Science Day celebration, on April 6th, at our Pinewood Campus. This year’s festivities promise to be an exciting exploration of science and discovery lead by the hard work of our students as they present their science fair projects.
Students from all grade levels, 1 through 12, will be presenting their works throughout the day, and all are welcome to come enjoy and learn.  The presentations will be capped off by an awards ceremony for Middle School and High School, where 4 students will be recognized, 2 from middle school, and 2 from high school. One of the top students from each group will be voted on by a visiting team of judges, while the other will be recognized through a vote by the students themselves. We are also thrilled and privileged to welcome Dr. George Dimitrakopoulos, an Assistant Professor at Aristotle University, in their division of Solid State Physics, a subdivision of the Dept. of Physics. Dr. Dimitrakopoulos specializes in Electron Microscopy, and will be presenting as our keynote, “Light and Innovative Nanomaterials: The story of compound semiconductors.
Festivities will run all day, from 9 a.m. until 2:55, with highlight events at 12:15, when the Juniors present their Group 4 Presentation, and at 13:50, when the Awards Ceremony begins.
We hope you’ll come to support your children, the sciences, and the Pinewood Community. Please feel free to contact reception with any questions concerning the day’s schedule of events.
