Pinewood Announces New Exchange Program!
24 January 2018 16:19
The year 2018 marks the beginning of a new Pinewood endeavor: an exchange program for secondary school students with IISS “C. A. Dalla Chiesa” school in Montefiascone, Italy.
This is a great opportunity for Pinewood students to visit Italian sites of rich historical background and experience living with an Italian family. Educational travel adds further context and substance to classroom material and reinforces concepts learned throughout the school year. School trips form long-lasting positive memories and relationships for all students. Pinewood students will be staying with Italian their host student families. In classic exchange-style, the host student will then visit Thessaloniki and stay with a Pinewood student;s family in May. This is a true exchange program where life-long relationships will be built. Dalla Chiesa has many years’ experience with exchange programs with other European countries and we are honored to become their partners.
Overlooking Lake Bolsena in the province of Viterbo, in Lazio, central Italy, about 100 km north of Rome, Montefiascone is the ideal base for Pinewood students to explore central Italy, dive in to Italian culture and learn from all the art and history around them. Montefiascone lies in a region between lower Tuscany and Rome known as Tuscia. It boasts a rich history from the Etruscan and Roman times as well as the medieval period. In both the cities and small towns, enchanting medieval quarters thrive and are testament to the flourishing of this fascinating period of history.
The Montefiascone trip has been planned for students in grades 8, 9 and 10.
Pinewood students will be staying with an Italian family who will host them for the entire trip - to include accommodation and food. In turn, the same Italian students who hosted our Pinewood students, will join us in May for their trip to Thessaloniki. They will stay with their exchange partner's family, which we hope will lead to lifelong friendships!
Pinewood students arrive in Rome and travel to Montefiascone to meet their hosting families at the school.
