16MARDualities: Arts Exhibition 2018Opening Night: 18:00
An Art Exhibition: IB1 & 2 Visual Art Students.
Young visual artists from Pinewood, The American International School of Thessaloniki are exhibiting artworks created during their International Baccalaureate Visual Arts course at the Cheap Art Pavilion in Helexpo. The exhibition is part of the honored country of Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) 2018 pre-events, as the United States of America is the Honored country this year. The artists have explored a variety of subjects and challenges in order to create multi-layered artworks experimenting with techniques of painting, sculpture, digital art, photography and printmaking.
Over the course of two years, the student-artists have explored conflicting subjects and ideas, including inequality of wealth and poverty, war and peace, preconceptions on beauty and ugliness, contrasting emotions and connections between humans and nature. As young adults moving into the real world and outside a protected school environment, they aim to raise awareness about important issues that they will likely face in their adult life and invoke the audience to contemplate on their importance, too.
The exhibition’s Private Viewing is on Friday the 16th of March at 6pm at the Cheap Art Pavilion kindly sponsored by Helexpo. The artists will be presenting their work on that evening and will be available for an open conversation. The exhibition is curated by visual artist and art teacher, Konstantina Kapanidou.
